Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and RecursionAI LLC (“RecursionAI,” “we,” “us”) governing your access to and use of Courier — including Courier OS, Courier Cloud, the API Platform, Scout, and the getcourier.ai website (together, the “Services”). By downloading, installing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. The Services

Courier lets you run AI models and agents locally on Apple Silicon (Courier OS) and, optionally, use hosted inference and APIs (Courier Cloud / API Platform). Courier OS ships in a free Personal edition and a paid Commercial edition, and bundles Scout, the MCP Store, and the Model Workbench & Library.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction and able to form a binding contract. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for safeguarding your credentials and API keys; you are responsible for all activity under your account.

3. Software license (Courier OS)

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Courier OS:

• Personal edition (free) — for your personal, non-commercial use, or internal evaluation, on Macs you own or control.
• Commercial edition ($300/month per seat/machine) — for commercial and production use, subject to an active, paid license validated via periodic signed check-ins with our licensing authority. If a license lapses or fails validation beyond the applicable grace period, Commercial features may be suspended.

You may not: sublicense, resell, or redistribute the software except as expressly permitted; circumvent, disable, or tamper with licensing, metering, or security mechanisms; or use the software in violation of law. Open-source components included with Courier remain governed by their own licenses, which control in the event of a conflict for those components.

4. Courier Cloud & API Platform

Hosted plans (ranging from $0 to $100/month, plus any Managed tier we offer) provide access to hosted inference and APIs against a curated model library. You are responsible for your use of the APIs and for any applications you build on them. We may set and enforce rate limits, usage quotas, and fair-use protections, and may modify or discontinue hosted features with reasonable notice.

5. Billing, subscriptions & refunds

Paid plans (Commercial licenses and Courier Cloud subscriptions) are billed on a recurring monthly basis through our payment processor (Stripe) until cancelled. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method for the applicable fees and taxes.

Try before you buy. You don’t have to pay to evaluate Courier. The non-commercial Courier OS Personal edition is free, and every Courier Cloud account includes a free tier of 500 credits per month — so you can try both Courier OS and Courier Cloud before purchasing a Commercial license or a paid Cloud plan.

Cancellation. You can cancel at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals; because you’ve already paid for the current billing period, your access continues through the end of that period.

Refunds. We handle refunds case by case, and we’re generally happy to help. If something isn’t working for you, reach out (see Contact below) and we’ll work with you to make it right.

We may change pricing prospectively, with notice before your next renewal.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Services to:

• violate any law or the rights of others;
• generate or distribute unlawful, harmful, or infringing content;
• attempt to gain unauthorized access to, disrupt, or overload the Services or their infrastructure;
• reverse engineer or circumvent licensing or security controls, except where such restriction is prohibited by law;
• resell or provide the hosted Services to third parties except under a written agreement with us.

7. Your content

You retain all rights to the content and data you provide to or process with the Services (“Your Content”). For local use, Your Content stays on your device and we claim no rights to it. For hosted Services, you grant us the limited rights necessary to operate the Services and process your requests. You are responsible for having the rights needed to use Your Content with the Services.

8. AI outputs & third-party models

Courier runs third-party and open-source AI models. Model outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or offensive, and are provided “as is” without warranty. You are responsible for reviewing outputs before relying on them and for your use of any generated content. Third-party models and datasets may carry their own terms and license restrictions, which you agree to observe.

9. Third-party services

The Services may integrate with third-party services (for example, MCP apps you connect). Your use of those services is governed by their terms; we are not responsible for third-party services.

10. Intellectual property

The Services, including all software, design, and content we provide (excluding Your Content and third-party components), are owned by RecursionAI and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you no rights other than the limited licenses described here.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RECURSIONAI WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF US $100 OR THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICES IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold RecursionAI harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Services, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Services or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive.

15. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. RecursionAI is based in Alpine, Utah.

We prefer to resolve issues directly and case by case. If you have a dispute or concern, please contact us first and we’ll work with you in good faith to resolve it.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
